I was previously working in UK as the head of spectrum for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in London. During that time I was involved in the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2010 Vancouver winter Olympics. On both events I was able to participate at the observer program where I could analyze the work of all spectrum experts. Steve Caldwell was the ceremonies spectrum expert for these events.

Ofcom is the communications regulator which regulates the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices broadcast. I was seconded to the Canadian radio regulator to assist in the testing and validation of radio equipment at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. The Sydney based audio production company Norwest Productions Pty. Ltd had the contract to manage the radio frequency (RF) spectrum for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the winter games. This brought me into contact with Steve Caldwell during the testing and validation phase prior to the commencement of the opening ceremony.
Similarly in 2012 the production company provided the spectrum management associated with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. Again I worked with Steve to complete the validation process of all the radio equipment he was required to manage for such a high profile event. In all my dealings with Steve I found him an extremely dedicated and professional engineer. All the equipment presented for validation was correctly tuned and in full conformity with the Games licences issued by Ofcom. He developed an excellent working relationship with all those associated with the commissioning of such a prestigious event.
